Main Post: As a therapist, listening is one of the most important tools you will use in your work. It becomes especially important to be an active listener when your client's area of concern is sexual in nature. What unique ethical, legal, and professional challenges do you expect to confront in your role as a therapist working with sexually questioning client populations?
What steps might you employ in order to assure that both your client and you share an understanding of your client's experiences and concerns?
How might you assure that you are capable of being an empathetic and non-judgmental counselor when discussing the intimacies surrounding sexual behavior? What steps might you consider in order to assure that professional boundaries are maintained in your practice as a therapist?
When working with clients presenting sexual challenges, what heightened concerns would you expect to confront in this regard?
