Additions to Instructional Resources:
All video assignments within the course have been specifically selected and must be included in the weekly assignments found under each week. They may not be replaced by other video material, although you are free to add additional videos which you feel will be beneficial to students keeping the workload being assigned each week.
Please be certain that you fully review the procedures for video posting on the discussion board. You are expected to begin each week’s discussion with your personal video post. All initial posts for all course members, including the instructor, must be posted as videos. Responses may be submitted as videos or in written form.
Weeks two through seven synchronous class meeting requires the use of the vignette included in the weekly course tab. Students are to review and consider the vignette each week prior to the class meeting so that they are well prepared to participate.
Students should be randomly assigned to Zoom Breakout Rooms every week we have a vignette to discuss. Be sure to indicate that the computer should randomly assign breakout rooms creating changing student groups each week. Students should have approximately 30 minutes to work in their group discussing potential responses by the professional to the vignette. The students should then return to the classroom and each group should share the perspectives shared in their breakout room group to the entire class. Presenters should alternate so that every student participates as a presenter at least once. Your students will enjoy any personal professional experiences that are applicable to the topic of the vignette. During the 30 minutes of breakout room time, I attempt to visit each breakout room group for more personal interaction with each group member. This is a great method for connecting with students.
It is important that the instructor is actively engaged as a participant on each week’s discussion board. (I try to personally respond to every student at least once during each weekly discussion. When I ask the student for a response, they are required to respond on their discussion thread. Their response to me does NOT count towards the minimum of TWO responses to their fellow learners each week. Students are also required to post on the weekly discussion board a MINIMUM of THREE DIFFERENT days each week to assure their active participation in our discussion.
Even though this course does not any form of quizzes or tests, the weekly workload per student can be intense at times.
